War Protester Will Sell Land by Bush Ranch June 10, 2007 FORT WORTH, June 9 (AP) The antiwar protester Cindy Sheehan will sell her Texas land near President Bushs ranch to a California radio talk show host, who plans to preserve it as a peace memorial, Ms. Sheehans spokeswoman said Friday. Ms. Sheehan will sell the five-acre site in Crawford, Tex., for $87,000 to the talk show host Bree Walker, said the spokeswoman, Tiffany Burns. Cindy is happy the land is going to be used for something positive, Ms. Burns said. But Cindy does not plan to have a continued presence there. A telephone message left for Ms. Walker, a former television news anchorwoman who has a weekend talk show on KTLK-AM in Los Angeles, was not returned. Ms. Burns said that Ms. Sheehan had been a guest on Ms. Walkers show several times. Move America Forward, an organization that supports the American intervention in Iraq, wanted to buy the land to erect a monument. But Ms. Sheehan said she would not sell to the group. Ms. Sheehan gained national attention with her grass-roots vigil in August 2005 when she camped near Mr. Bushs ranch for 26 days, demanding to talk with him about the death of her son, Specialist Casey A. Sheehan of the Army, who was killed in an ambush in Baghdad in 2004. Her protest near Mr. Bushs ranch attracted more than 10,000 people to the small town that overwhelmingly supports the president. It also drew counter-protests by Bush supporters, including a large downtown rally sponsored by Move America Forward. Ms. Sheehan plans a return trip to Crawford in July to sell the propertys remaining items, including a generator, refrigerator, stove and camping equipment, Ms. Burns said. Ms. Sheehan had initially planned to sell the land on eBay with an $80,000 starting bid, but changed her mind after getting an offer from Ms. Walker, Ms. Burns said. Since she bought the property last year for $52,500, Ms. Sheehans group put in gravel roads, cleared brush, planted gardens and made other improvements that boosted the lands value, Ms. Burns said.
