Surprise! Our Favorite Athlete Is...
...Michael Jordan.
He may be retired from the NBA, but basketball wizard Michael Jordan continues his reign as the country's favorite athlete again this year, according to an annual Harris Poll that tracks who's hot and who's not in the world of sports.
Jordan has topped the list every year since 1993 and seems to have a firm hold on the crowning spot largely due to an absence of big stars among the new generation of athletes. Also, no other athlete has transcended the game as Jordan once did. Coming in a far distant second in this year's poll of 3,778 adults is golf phenom Tiger Woods, followed by Green Bay Packers' quarterback Brett Favre. The Williams sisters, that would be Venus and Serena, topped the first-ever Harris Poll of favorite female athletes.
